Violin Sonata No.1 in D Op.12

By Ludwig Van Beethoven

This is the first sonata in Beethoven's first set of three violin sonatas; a lively work that is said to have Mozart-like phraseology and simplicity. It was dedicated to influential composer Antonio Salieri. The piece was likely composed while Beethoven was studying with Joseph Haydn. It was fairly common for Beethoven to publish works in sets of three.
