Violin Concerto No.1 in Bb K207

By Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

This is the first violin concerto Mozart composed when he was only either seventeen years old (1773) or ninteen (1775), though it was officially published in 1870 (with the opus 127), as documented in 'Hofmeister's Monatsbericht ' under the section for stringed instruments and winds. This work is atypical in comparison to Mozart's other violin concertos in that every movement begins with a fairly substantial introduction by the orchestra without the soloist - even the last movement begins with a nearly 50-measure Tutti. Recently, the first and Mozart's 2nd violin concertos have been regaining popularity on stages.
