Chaccone in G minor

By Tomaso Antonio Vitali

Vitali's most notable work. The most popular arrangement is by Belgian pedagogue and violinist Léopold Charlier. For a time, the Chaccone was attributed to Ferdinand David given his publication of "Die hohe Schule des Violinspiels" (The high school of violin playing) volume 2. The piece was written for violin with continuo, but is now also performed on the viola in C minor: Vitali Chaccone for viola and piano.
