By Sergei Prokofiev

The work was completed in 1917 and premiered in October 1923, performed by violinist Marcel Darrieux with the Paris Opera Orchestra conducted by Serge Koussevitsky. In the United States the concerto was premiered in 1925 by concertmaster Richard Burgin.
